In Memory of Hilda Grosso: 1939-2009

Hilda passed away this spring at the fine age of 70. She was always such a nice pleasant lady to visit, and never complained about her physical handicap or ailments.  She took great pride in Nordegg to the point where she convinced me to do a series of postcards of the town. Much to my surprise, there was a lot of interesting things to see, and an interesting history - that Hilda wanted other people to see and learn about - people from her time and her parent s time, and how people long ago had made a living so far from anywhere. You just don’t get many people like that anymore, with all of our expectations of pampered conveniences that insulate us from so many realities of the world. One of her great achievements she was so glad of was her pioneer cookbook that she laboured so many hours to publish to be in time for the local reunion, and it was a big hit too ! She also took pride in her nice, cozy shop at the museum, that still has a lot of good local crafts, at reasonable prices. Thank you for sharing some time, and getting me to stop, look and learn about Nordegg’s sights & history.
