Heroes Any group or person that does good deeds for Nature and Wildlife. BIG HUGS & THANK YOU !! In addition to the amazing people listed below, we also respect the efforts of celebrities, writers, TV and movie studios that support animal-nature movies/programs and better attitudes to improve animal-nature care worldwide: Jackie Chan, Pierce Brosnan, Pamela Anderson, Bob Barker, Woody Harrelson, Doris Day, Bridgette Bardot, Reese Witherspoon, Farley Mowat, et al. Thank you !! Colleen McCORY - saved BC’s Valhalla Wilderness Lucy FENSOM - www.safehaven4donkeys.org/about_us/index.php WOW. Tove REECE & Associates - Voice for Animals, Edmonton www.v4a.org AMAZING GROUP. Kim ALLEN - Wildlife Rehab Society, Edmonton Several years ago, Kim stepped up to help injured wildlife find a safe haven to have injuries healed and to recover. With her caring volunteers, they help an amazing amount of wildlife thanks to caring citizens like Jim LANGE (Birds). Jim PISSOT - Wildlife Defenders, Canmore www.defenders.org Superb Nature Advocate !! Alberta Wilderness Assoc., Canadian Parks & Wilderness, Western Wilderness Committee - without a protected habitat, there is no home for wildlife !! Hardworking, dedicated groups. Thanks! Robert BATEMAN (artist) - for decades Mr. Bateman has thrilled people worldwide with his fabulous paintings that delicately capture the essence of wildlife. In addtion to his valuable time advocating wildlife conservation, Mr. Bateman has donated millions (yes, millions) of his personal money to assit conservation groups. Thanks you !! Dr .David SUZUKI - for lifetime of educating the public, industry & politicians about Nature. Erin QUINNEY, Sooke, BC - Many years ago, at she and some volunteers rescued over a hundred rabbits from certain death (poisoning, guns). She then provided a home, food and shelter and medical attention for these bunnies for many years - long after the media & public abandoned her. In addition, this solo parent of two kids, with very few resources, did this without a full time job while also looking after dozens of other animals abandoned to her kind and loving care ( horses, pigs, goats, ducks, dogs, cats, birds, raccoons, etc.) AWESOME !! In recent years she was greatly helped by her good friend Troy LIARD, who loved bunnies, but recently passed away (Dec.2008) leaving her in need of some support. Sadly, Erin died a few months after Troy. The animals are all gone now, but please help her dream by supporting other no-kill animal shelters. Respect to her kids Taylor & Brandon QUINNEY George BRYBICIN - a photographer from Calgary who used his spectacular mountains scenery photography in over 40 books to promote environment, wildlife and even fresh water conservation - long before it was acceptable mainstream society thinking. John ACORN - this Nature Nut used humour to educate and inspire a young generation of kids and adults to take a closer look and care about the natural world- especially bugs & amphibians! Way to go John ! Mr. HORNE - Edmonton. For many years this aspiring photographer set aside his shutter-bug urges to raise a fine family. When he got a bit older, he spent time and money feeding the wildbirds around his home - including rock doves we commonly called pigeons - birds that were never meant to exist in Alberta’s harsh winters - but were forced to survive. His wife and neighbours were amazing - as they supported his good hearted efforts to simply try to make life better for other living beings. You can too !! |
