Several years ago, we became vegetarian, and our health has improved significantly.

I have as much energy for backpacking & my dental cavities have declined to zero.

Alberta Natives Exposed to Oilsands Toxins

A few months after this was posted, Federal & Provincial Govt ordered an investigation to “find the cause”. Everyone know before oilsands processing no health issues of this severity. Edmonton SEE magazine also reported multiple oil-toxin spills over the years in nearby rivers

10July2008 - Alberta Govt announces $2,000,000,000 for Alberta CO2 emissions recovery, plus $2,000,000,000 for more buses, park&bus lots, etc.
Bus plans good idea - about time !  However, money should also be given to tree planting and shrub planting for rural farmers for natural CO2 storage.

In addition to storing carbon in the soil, tress natually produce oxgen and a mature tree will filter tons of air pollutants ( Jr High School Science ).

Alberta Govt fails to address oilsands pollution getting into river water & eco-systems. Extracting 175 Billion barrels of oil will use 2-3 time that amount of fresh water.  Oilsands factories should be required to clean their water and recycle it - if it is not good enough now for recycling, then it certainly is not good enough to go into rivers !!. Who should pay ? Major 7 Oil companies EACH have made over $25,000,000,000/year ( over 1000 Billion = 1 Trillion dollars profit in past 5 years ) for several years, yet Alberta taxpayers are again given the bill.  Oil & Gas companies still owe Alberta taxpayers over $6,000,000,000 in uncollected oil royalties - royalties based on record low prices of 100 years ago. Why did Alberta Govt give Big Oil $1,000,000,000 last month and  $2,000,000,000 now?

About 5 years ago, the cost of extracting oil from the oilsands was about $15/barrel - even IF cost $50/barrel now, still making massive profits with prices well over $100/barrel.

Big oil should be far more environmentally sound and financially self-sufficient.
